Saturday Morning Breakfast Tradition

My Mom spoils me. We go out to breakfast on most Saturdays (and she always insists on paying). It is so fun to have this one on one time with my Mom. I cherish it! She is so patient to listen to me ramble on about the kids and other miscellaneous things. I know I do most of the talking. She even goes out of her way to pick me up so we have more time together. Sometimes we even go shopping afterwards. It started a few years ago when my mom, Grandma Park, and I would go to Weight Watchers in the morning and then to breakfast after. What fun, fun memories. My Grandma has since passed away and I think back on all those Saturdays and am so grateful for the time together with her and my Mom (seriously how lucky is that to have one on one time with your mom and grandma!). After my grandma passed away my Mom and I still went to Weight Watchers and breakfast until I became 'great' with child and we dropped the Weight Watcher part. Our favorite place to eat is "Normandy Cafe" in Holladay. Oh my! Their eggs benedict is the most divine food in the world (and so NOT Weight Watchers friendly).

I love my Mom. She is a good example of love and generosity. As I said she spoils me. This is one of the neat parenting tricks that I think my Mom and Dad have mastered--making each of us kids feel like we are the spoiled ones. I would say that none of my siblings have jealousy over something that my Mom or Dad has done for another sibling. We all just know that our turn is coming. I just know that my Mom secretly spoils me when they don't see and vice versa--they are spoiled when I don't see. I think my parents are amazing to make sure we are all taken care of in our own way with what we each need. It is funny to me as a parent now and in my thirties that I still feel like I need my parents and crave their attention and praise. I guess that never goes away. I just love my Saturday mornings with my Mom. Thanks Mom! And thanks also to Bruce who gives me this gift of time away each week (he is banking a lot of golf time).

Oh I love your mom! What a sweet tradition you have together! Also I love that she has all the grandchildren together to babysit. What fun memories they are creating!
